The California Transparency in Supply Chains Act of 2010 recently became applicable to Mitsubishi Cement Corporation. The Act requires public disclosures regarding companies’ efforts to eradicate slavery and human trafficking from their direct supply chains for tangible goods offered for sale.
The majority of the raw materials we use to manufacture cement and related products are produced at our mining facility in California in strict compliance with all state and federal employment laws. Altogether, more than 98% of the raw materials contained in our finished products are obtained from suppliers who produce these materials in the United States. Only one of our suppliers produces the raw materials outside the United States.
Mitsubishi Cement Corporation currently does not have a formal program in place to address the eradication of slavery and human trafficking. Mitsubishi Cement Corporation is currently evaluating the following components with respect to developing a program to address this important issue: (1) Verification of product supply chains; (2) Audits of suppliers; (3) Certification by direct suppliers; (4) Development of internal accountability standards; and (5) Training for employees responsible for supply chain management.
